Our EXD camper is for the traveler with toys who wants a comfortable place to call home while on the road. The EXD pairs a proven EarthCruiser house with a One-Ton 4×4 American truck chassis. Available in a Ram or a Ford these trucks are known for their on-road comfort, while also being capable on the trail. This camper is perfect for two travelers who want to be able to spend weeks traveling to national parks or take the boat to the lake.
What makes the EXD different from other campers is it’s low maintenance, premium components, and ergonomic comfort which comes from the proven EarthCruiser design. It is a turn key vehicle that is built on a Ford, Ram or Chevy chassis. Why only a 1-ton truck, because it is provides the owner with a few advantages:
- Smaller, lighter truck means less limitations when travelling to the places you want to go
- All dealers stock most parts for 1-ton pickup trucks, even in popular international markets. This isn’t the case for larger commercial size trucks.
- These trucks still fall under a consumer category, so they ride better and are more ergonomic than a commercial class truck. It a people carrier that sometimes hauls rocks, not a rock hauler that sometimes carries people.
- Commercial category trucks are safety tested for braking with dual wheels. Changing the wheels in that manner may change the contact area and rotational inertia of the rear tires, which would affect braking performance, particularly in the event that you lose front brakes. This is a safety issue according to the FMVSS, if the vehicle in its new configuration has not been certified.
