Getting Alpha Out of the Container
Not the first time we have done this, but it is still so special! Opening the doors and there it is, the very same EarthCruiser Alpha we loaded up early one morning with the EarthCruiser team back in Bend, Oregon.
There is Alpha waiting patiently to get on the move. Just undo the tie down straps in the front and rear and we are almost ready to go! Lance likes to turn the wheel fully one direction. This helps to hold the vehicle in place from the rough seas moving it from side to side.
Next step is to climb up the bull bar, swing off the roof rack and jump in through the window! It’s a lot easier than it looks. Poor Alpha, inside the container felt like an oven!
After that engage the start batteries and start her up! No revving, only an easy idle is necessary. And just like that, put in gear and out we go!
Leaving Alpha in idle for awhile to get some oil moving, engage the lithium house batteries, raise the roof and confirm all systems are up and running. Borrow a hose and fill the water tanks, as we did not fully winterize EarthCruiser Alpha, tank two had some water already on purpose. Bend drinking water is hard to beat!
It’s very hot and humid in Malaysia, 90.5° F.
Final Step After Alpha is Out of the Container
Time to fill up with fuel. Never sure how to do this, pay first? cash only? is card okay? … Do you fill yourself or does someone else help out? Any way Lance and Michelle figured it out!
Note:Malaysia is moving to low sulfur diesel fuel.
Only one more thing to do… Find out on our next blog post!
