First Glimpse of MOD and EXD

We are super excited to share photos of the first MOD and EXD products to our EarthCruiser audience. It took a huge effort from the crew, and it will all pay off once these beautiful vehicles get on the road. If you are looking for unique, there is nothing constructed quite like these campers. They are lightweight but rugged, simple but highly innovative, and just look damn good on any truck it’s mounted to. We’ll be putting up dedicated webpages soon, but check out the gallery below for pictures of the builds.

Life is too short to sit still

“The only thing I regret is not traveling enough.”   -Mom It’s 5:20 AM, and the nurses just came in to check on my mom. As I sit by her bedside I still can’t understand how such a strong woman was picked apart so quickly by the “c” word. In January of 2017 my mother called, and was frustrated that work was getting so stressful she couldn’t even type an email. “I just can’t find the words, and it feels like I’m having a mental breakdown” she told me. After a few days dealing with it she decided to get a

Drink Beer Outside If there is two things you quickly learn living in Bend, Oregon it is that the great outdoors and beer are like two peas in a pod. Of course you can enjoy one without the other, but who doesn’t love sitting around a campfire in the middle of nowhere sipping a good pale ale? OK OK wine might be your thing, or a fancy LaCroix, but we live in Bend… and that hoppy beverage is king. Hanging out with our pals over at 10 Barrel Brewing, we got to talking about their Drink Beer Outside event. It

EXD vs. the 4×4 Van

Feature by feature, EXD features more features. As mentioned before, we are not hating on #vanlife. In fact, any person looking to travel by any means are friends of ours because WE LOVE TRAVELING! Knowing the capabilities of your vehicle is another thing, and everyone at EarthCruiser wants to make sure that if you do adventure off-road, you have the right vehicle, skill set, and understanding to do so safely. This was a driving force behind the EXD concept, and we wanted to share how some of the specs are stacking up. We took a look at the average specs,

#VanLife is About To Get A Lot More Offroad Capable

Adventure vans are more popular today than ever, and it was proven with how many custom outfitters were showing their goods at Overland Expo West. When outfitted a 4×4 van is a great home on the road, giving you lots of interior space and a quick and easy pass through to the drivers seat. They can go a lot of places, but have some restrictions compared to popular american made 4×4 trucks. While we love the #vanlife lifestyle, we want to go farther and stay longer to best enjoy our favorite recreational activities. This brings us to our new concept

Trying to Stay MODest…

But We’re Really Excited!! What a show! 2018 Overland Expo West did not disappoint this year, with over 365 vendors and double the attendance from 2017. It was non-stop, dusty, hot, and full of cool vehicles and gear that got a lot of attention. Including our MOD prototype! The humble MOD won’t share this, but people couldn’t stop talking about it and wanting to peek inside. The MODular interior concept gained a lot of attention, and everyone shared tons of ideas on how they would outfit it. Within a week after the show it was put on 4 lists of

MOD makes it to Overland Expo

The MOD prototype is loaded, and on its trek to Overland Expo in Flagstaff, AZ. It’s Friday night and a final turn of the allen wrench secures the dinette seat kit to the MOD proto-type. Mounted on our shop Tundra, it is ready for the 1,100 mile journey to Overland Expo West in Flagstaff, AZ. As the sun was setting we pulled it out of the shop, and parked it next to pro mountain biker Ryan Leech’s beautiful Ram PowerWagon carrying his newly outfitted GZL 400. The white to grey contrast during sunset was great to capture, and it was

Nobody Puts MOD in the Corner

We Begin Our Prototyping with a Retired GZL Shell “It’s time to start building!”, Lance said as we were finalizing the last few SolidWorks files. This jump from concept to proto-type always gets our engineers nervous. Hoping that everything was thought through, calculated out, and will line up is the dream but never the reality. By noon the next day a stack of plywood showed up, and our crew began cutting shapes on our C&C machine. Why plywood? Because it is cheap and easy to take a computer design and see how it feels when it is a tangible structure.
