Owner’s Story: Tara & Tom Sweeney

We recently caught up with Tara Sweeney to hear about her family’s life on the trail after picking up their new EXP Dual Cab they’ve named Artemis in March 2023. Hi Tara! Tell us a little about your lovely family. We’re a little family of 3 – two engineers (Tom and Tara) and an awesome 3-year-old (Valkyrie). Well, I guess we’re a family of 4 now if you count our EXP (Artemis). We’ve been living in San Diego for nearly 15 years and we both grew up spending a ton of time outside, so we love the year-round pleasant weather

Owner Stories: Henry Nesmith

Hi Henry, tell us about yourself. I was born in Kansas, south of Kansas City, and grew up there until going to College in Southern California. I worked for a finance company for a couple of years and decided I wasn’t cut out for that. One day my father-in-law pointed out that his town at one time had three hardware stores and no longer had one. He suggested my wife and I start our own. My wife and I had spent years fixing and selling houses and got to know towns around the Bay Area. We found a building in

Owner Stories: Tim Dalton

Meet Timothy D., one of the first owners of an EC Terranova based on Shelter Island, New York. Tim is an avid outdoor adventurer, photographer, dive master, fisherman, skier (just to name a few of his hobbies) and beekeeper. Tim brought the EC crew some of his own honey and it was delicious. He wasted no time in getting out and using his vehicle, we were fortunate enough to catch up with him a few weeks ago for this interview.  Tim’s Terranova will be on display at our booth at Overland Expo East in Arrington, Oct 7-9th.  Tell us about

Owner stories: Stephen & Caroline An EarthCruiser FX “Molly42” Recently, we got to catch up with EarthCruiser FX #42 owners Stephen and Caroline who share their vast travel and overlanding experience in “Molly42”. EC: Let’s start with telling us a little about yourselves We love to travel. Our first overland trip was in 1991 when we left England to drive to South Africa. All started well, but we ran into issues getting our Range Rover across the border from Morocco to Algeria. So, the car went back to England with friends, and we continued our journey combining hitch-hiking, buses, trains,

Why Namibia Should Top Your List of Overlanding Dream Destinations

Namibia is one of the rare overlanding destinations that hits the sweet spot between rugged and approachable. The driving there is rough and remote. Still, you won’t likely break your vehicle, find yourself stranded, or put yourself in danger. You’ll want to watch for signs of elephants and lions while making camp, but you’ll rarely find yourself too far from a cold beer. Seemingly endless miles of gravel roads provide just enough challenge to build an overlander’s confidence without feeling insurmountable. In short, things work, but traveling there remains a proper adventure Here are five reasons Namibia tops my list

EC Co-Founder Michelle Boltz: Cooking in your EarthCruiser

As we all know, I really like to travel, and part of that is because I really like to eat and try new things. It doesn’t have to be exotic, and it doesn’t have to be ‘ethnic,’ it can just be things that I am not used to cooking at home. In America, there are so many regional foods that we may not know about them if we don’t live there. I’d never cooked crawfish until we were driving our EarthCruiser through the south. I probably won’t do it again because they were really fiddley, but I’m glad I did.
